Carbon reduction plan
We are committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050. Our Carbon Reduction Plan outlines our current carbon footprint, reduction targets and the practical steps we are taking to reduce our environmental impact.
Our commitment
We are working towards Net Zero emissions by 2050. Our Carbon Reduction Plan sets out our baseline and current emissions across Scopes 1, 2 and 3, our interim reduction targets, and the measures and future projects that will support our progress towards Net Zero. The plan is reviewed and updated annually and has been approved at board level.
The plan covers PHRENETECH Ltd, trading as Funeral Experts and Life and Loss UK, and has been completed in accordance with Procurement Policy Note 006.
Baseline and current emissions
2025/26 is our first formal organisational carbon footprint, so the reporting year 1 June 2025 to 31 May 2026 is both our baseline year and our current reporting year.

We project that organisational carbon emissions will decrease to no more than 0.60 tCO2e by 31 May 2031, a reduction of at least 30% against the 2025/26 baseline. We will review performance annually and maintain our commitment to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050 at the latest.
Scope 3 covers the categories required under PPN 006. The 0.87 tCO2e figure is the reported total for those included categories, not a full value-chain footprint.
Measures already in place
- A fully remote operating model with no corporate premises and no company vehicle fleet.
- Digital and telephone-based service delivery, including cloud-hosted systems, electronic records, electronic contracts and electronic signatures.
- Virtual meetings by default where appropriate, with rail preferred for UK business travel.
- A paper light approach, with printed materials limited to where they support access to bereaved families or service delivery.
- Environmental considerations included within supplier selection and purchasing decisions.
